About Coppell

Coppell is a city in Dallas County, Texas, a suburb and bedroom community of the DFW Metroplex. The population was 35,958 at the 2000 census. A small area in the far northern portion of the city extends into neighboring Denton County.

Most of the city of Coppell falls within the Coppell Independent School District. Small sections are served by Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District and Lewisville Independent School District (the latter section, a subdivision known as Coppell Greens in the Denton County portion of Coppell, has sought to de-annex itself from Lewisville ISD and become part of Coppell ISD, but to date Lewisville ISD has refused the request). Conversely, the CISD includes a sizable section of the Valley Ranch neighborhood in Irving (generally all residents west of MacArthur Boulevard). The three middle schools are called Coppell Middle School North, West, and East. The Coppell Middle School North's mascot is the Cougar. The Coppell Middle School West's mascot is the Wrangler. The Coppell Middle School East's mascot is the Broncos. The elementary schools are: Austin, Cottonwood Creek, Denton Creek, Lakeside, Lee, Mockingbird, Pinkerton, Town Center, Valley Ranch, Wilson.
